EYEING KEENELAND PURSES Baker Stable Expected to Be at Full Strength for Coming Session at Lexington. LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 8. Barring the unf orseen, the stable of Smith G. Baker and Mrs. Baker, which has been at Churchill Downs for some time, will be at or near maximum power when the spring meeting opens at that local course three weeks from Saturday. Rested following the 1936 campaign and after the young horses then yearlings had been tried, the Baker horses wintered at Lexington. First gallops started early in January and the approach to racing condition has been steady and without interruption. Right now every one in the string of fourteen, of which six are juveniles, promises to be ready when the local meeting begins. LIST OF HORSES. Trained by Len Smoke, veteran colored trainer, the young horses make up as likely a band for their age as will be found in any moderately sized stable in the Blue Gras3 state. They are DeCourcey, bay colt by Macaw Katherine Stuart; Smith David, brown colt, by Upset Glow; Sis Quinlan, bay filly, by Saxon Helen Bond; Janice, chestnut filly, by Cherokee Victoire; Ann Terry, chestnut filly by Terry Anna Beall and Little Hetty, chestnut filly, by Greenock Jane Williamson. The eight older Baker performers are Yan-tis, Ginocchio, R. L. Baker, Jancke, Cherokee Red, Prince Vic, Glowset and Jack W. The latter and Smith David race under Mrs. Bakers colors.
