OAKLAWN OFFICIALS DISPERSE William Hamilton Departs for Ken-j tucky to Resume Starting. Eugene Bury Motoring to Canada to Take" Up Official Duties at Several Dominion Tracks. HOT SPRINGS, Ark., April 8. The Oak-"; lawn Jockey Clubs official family dispersed in all directions following the close of the, 1937 racing season in this popular health resort. Some of them are speeding against time to be on hand to fulfill official posts at other tracks, while others returned to their home3 for a rest prior to heading for another track at which they become a member of the official personnel. William Hamilton, a Hot Springs resident who functioned in the capacity of steward, representing the Arkansas Racing Commis- sion in such a capable manner, departed Sunday to return to his old post of starter on the Kentucky tracks. The first stop of Hamiltons will be Louisville, Ky., where he will remain for several days before proceeding to Lexington, where he will take over the superintendency of the schooling of horses from Reuben W. White, his chief assistant, and who capably dis-j patched the fields throughout the Oaklawn meeting this season. I Dr. Fred W. Ashe, Oaklawn Jockey Club steward and L. C. Hammett, a member olj the Arkansas Racing Commission who served in the stand along with Hamilton, re- turned to their homes. The former resides in Sheepshead Bay, N. Y., while the latter is a native of Wynne, Ark. I Eugene W. Bury, who served as racing secretary, is motoring to Canada, where he is being mentioned for several important; posts on tracks in the Dominion during the summer, while clerk of scales, Cliff Sanford, headed for Louisville, for a visit prior to going to his home in Covington, Ky. George R. Palmer, who Is among the all-around racing officials from the post of starter to racing secretary and who served as paddock and placing judge at Oaklawn, headed for Maryland to take up his official duties at Havre de Grace. Timer Tom Moran, one of the veterans ol the official personnel and Alex Heffernan.l departed to reach their next posts of duty as early as possible. Moran will serve aa an official at Beulah Park, while Heffernan returns to Omaha.
