1 HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES Ralph McBain, who had charge of the jockeys quarters at Tropical Park, sent word that A. Schuler, a valet employed at the Gables Racing Association, is a patient in Jackson Memorial Hospital following an operation. J. Gorga has supplanted R. Coppa as trainer of the Mrs. F. Rossiter horses. George Palmer, placing judge at Havre de Grace, has been notified of his appointment as starter for the Hunt meetings at Radner and Rose Tree, which are held each season at Berwyn, Pa., and Media, Pa. Jockey Albert Schmidl, under contract to Charles Raynor, became a full fledged rider when his apprentice allowance terminated after the final race at Havre de Grace Wednesday. Word reached here that Bettys Buddy, who suffered an injury some time ago while being prepped for the Kentucky Derby, has recovered sufficiently to be put back in training. Bettys Buddy is quartered at Pim-lico with the remainder of the Mrs. J. Bos-ley horses. Jockey J. Doggett accepted his first mount of the meeting when he rode Sun Scout for Mrs. John Bosley, Jr., in the first race. Trainer George Conway, who guides the destinies of the Glen Riddle Farm, intends to transfer Over the Top to Jamaica for the Wood Memorial providing the colt performs creditably in the Chesapeake here Saturday. The schooling list at Havre de Grace embraces Sweeperman, Love Potion, Dian, and Fair Scout. Trainer J. H. Stotler departed for Jamaica to supervise the saddling of Postage Due and Speed to Spare in the Paumonok. Stotler will return here after finishing his chores. In his next appearance here, which will be in the Philadelphia Handicap Saturday, Whopper will perform in blinkers. Duval Headley, who handles the colt received permission from the stewards for the change in equipment Thursday. Charles J. McLennan is hopeful that at least ten starters will compete in the ,500 Philadelphia Handicap, which will be run at Havre De Grace Saturday. McLennan pointed out that the following horses: Whopper, Finance, White Cockade, Aneroid, Dark Hope, Columbiana, New Deal, Bootless, Kievex, and Kenty have been prepared for the race and are likely to make up the field.
