GOLDEN VEIN, away nicely and a prominent factor early, wore HAPPY HOSTESS down readily when reaching the stretch, continued stoutly and drew out without effort nearing the end. HAPPY HOSTESS began quickly, moved into a dear lead, saved ground but tired fast when caught. ACAUTAW, caught in jtight quarters immediately after the start, secured racing room in the last five-sixteenths and finished Camely. MISS ADELINE closed a good gap. ZINNIA, away slowly, could not threaten. MOON HARVEST tired after reaching a forward position on the turn. BALCONY showed a flash of early speed, as did RED LABEL and SHAGGY ANN. MASKED GAL assumed command directly after the start, was rated until challenged, responded to punishment in the final eighth and withstood a hard drive to hold OUR CREST safe. The latter, steadied back of the leaders until leaving the back stretch, moved up gamely and finished wearing the winner down slowly at the close. BATTLING GIRL, slow to settle in her stride, finished stoutly in the last three-eighths. FLYING FEET was unable to engage the leaders at any stage. FIRST PIGEON could not threaten. IPSO FACTO, a keen factor in the early running, wore MONDORF down midway of the turn, responded to a vigorous drive when straightened into the stretch and held on stoutly to stall off LITTLE ARGO. The latter, permitted to drop back at the turn out of the back stretch after going with the pacemaker, came again and was wearing the winner down gradually. CRUISING cased out of tight quarters when leaving the back stretch, settled in stride and finished gamely. MY SURPRISE was made entirely too much use of getting into contention in the first half mile and flattened out in the closing eighth. NADIR snowed a good effort. MONDORF tired early.
