DISASTROUS MICHIGAN FIRE Dozen Horses Believed to Have Perished and Several Men Injured at Mount Clemens Track. MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich., April 20. A "fire in which a dozen thoroughbreds are believed to have perished and which resulted in injuries to several men destroyed the stables and grandstand at the old Mount Clemens Racing Association track here. Horses known to have been destroyed were Indefinite, Paradox Girl, Hasty Ann, Edward C, Big Clifton, Celtic Lady, Dunsprite, Homer L., Ideale and Lady Co. Among the injured men were Bob Scott, who was thrown against a stable door as Indefinite bolted back into the barn after being led out of it; Alfred Connor, Lionel Thibault, James Buchanan, Lyle Downing, G. W. Bell and "Buck" Harper, all burned. Most of the men are attendants or trainers. The track" has been used only for training purposes. Twenty-nine horses were quartered in the stables. Several horses ran away after being led to safety. Some dashed back into the burning structure after having been led out of it by attendants.
