JAPS PAY PANAY CLAIMS WASHINGTON, D. C, April 20. Joseph C. Grew, American ambassador at Tokyo, has informed the State Department that the Japanese government presented a check of ,214,007 in payment for the Panay claims to the United States government today. That amount was sought to cover damages to property and personal injuries resulting from the sinking of the Panay and the bombing of three American tankers.
