LUCKY STAR, well handled, saved ground under mild restraint, responded to mild urging in the final drive and took the lead easily and was in hand at the end. I CHASE raced on the outside, made a bold bid in the stretch, but was not good enough. MYMAN rushed to the front, showed good speed, but tired under pressure in the last eighth. FEZ broke fast, but lacked early speed and was unable to reach the leaders when placed to strong urging. DOROTHY HICKS had no excuses. GAYETTE showed nothing. COLONEL MARTIS, hard hustled from the start, was unable to withstand the winner in the final drive. PAKALA, outrun early, was taken to the outside for the final quarter and finished well. HIGHER UP, unable to establish a commanding lead under strong urging, tired rapidly in the final eighth. KING WHIM had no excuses. MISS EFFIE was through after a half mile. Overweight — D. D. FEEZIE, close up in the early stages and saving ground, was placed under strong pressure when taken to the outside for the drive and wore down ROCK SALLY in the final eighth. The latter moved into the lead with a rush, then gave way to the winner in the final drive, but held the others safe. BROWN RAY, outrun early, was placed under strong urging in the final quarter, but was not good enough. STILL ALARM finished gamely. WEBBING had no excuses.
