, I I READY AT WHEELING DOWNS Work of Remodeling and Refurnishing Plant for Todays Opening Is Entirely Completed. WHEELING DOWNS, W. Va., May 27.— A field of eight starters wUl go postward in the Wheeling Downs Inaugural Handicap to- morrow with Kranz and Tracys consistent five-year-old gelding Brilliant Stone, heading the list as top weight with 118 pounds and probable favorite. The work of remodeling and refurnishing the plant has been completed and everything is in readiness for the opening day crowd. It is expected that Wheeling Downs will entertain the largest opening day throng in its history. Enthusiasm throughout the tri-state area has become so keen that a capacity attendance is expected to file through the gates long before post time of the first race at 2:15 p. m. Eastern Standard Time. Pittsburgh fans planning to attend the races at Wheeling Downs will be able to take the bus from the downtown terminal of the Greyhound Lines direct to the grandstand.
