KENTUCKY OAKS TODAY Sixty-Fourth Running of Fixture for Fillies Attracts Fine Field. Ten Scheduled to Start in Churchill Downs ,000 Added Event — Headley Entry to Rule Favorite. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 27.— A fine renewal of the rich and prized Kentucky Oaks, ; which is as old as the Kentucky Derby, was seen when ten three-year-old fillies were I named for tomorrows sixty-fourth running I of that Churchill Downs- spring fixture. Carrying ,000 in added money the race will be decided over a distance of one mile and a furlong, the winner to be crowned the three-year-old queen of the western turf. The field, numerically one of the largest obtained for the stake in some time, has a decided western complexion, only one of the scheduled starters representing an eastern owner. Lourdes, property of Mrs. Payne j Whitney, whose Greentree Stable colors were successful in the same race back in 1923 when Untidy added her name to the scroll of Oaks winners, is the lone invader. Two stables whose silks will be seen in I tomorrows race have named two horses | each. They are H. P. Headley, who has entered Drift Along and Flying Lee and the j partnership of D. B. Midkiff and H. Wells, I represented by Dixieland and Cross Keys. I The Headley combination may rule favorite , although horsemen and experts sized up the race as a very open one.
