ALTENA, a sharp factor from the start and under light restraint to the final quarter, responded to strong urping thereafter to outfinish POPULAR VOTE. The latter, outrun early, saved ground entering the Stretch, took command approaching the last eighth and just failed to last. CHATUGA, never far back and on the outside, was hard ridden after a quarter and seemed to hang in the last three-sixteenths. TERRIER, badly outrun to the last quarter, made up ground steadily thereafter. WHIP SNAKE, under light restraint early, failed to respond when called upon. ROYAL LEON, never a great distance back and on the inside, was placed to strong pressure after reaching the final quarter and. responding, got up inside the last sixteenth, but pulled up lame. GREY SQUAW, a sharp factor from the st3rt and under frequent light pressure, closed gamely, but was not good enough. NEDROW forced the pace under light restraint, took command approaching the last eighth under hard riding and tired in the final sixteenth. REX EQUINUS. quick to take command, readily gave way to NEDROW in the stretch and then tired near the end. BLOND JESTER had no mishaps. CARBON COPY, outrun for five-eighths, began to move up steadily thereafter while racing wide, took command with a rush approaching the final eighth and won easily. GOLDEN PIGEON, never a great distance back and in hand for nearly three quarters, moved up thereafter between horses and held on gamely in the drive, but could not menace the winner. PARGO, in hand for three-quarters, lost ground on the second turn, responded to pressure thereafter and closed gamely. POPS BETTY had good speed for a quarter, was taken in hand when outrun thereafter and held on fairly well in the drive. SLIP KNOT raced wide. GOOD BYE BLUES, in hand and well up for three quarters, tired badly thereafter. OAKWOODS JUDGE showed good speed to the last quarter and then quit. Scratched— 57814 Royal Tuscan. 108.
