i DUFFERIN PARK INAUGURAL Popular Half-MUer Opens Today at Toronto Management Planning Numerous Future Changes. TORONTO, Ont, Oct. 14 Racing in the Dominion of Canada will reach its final seven days with the opening of Dufferin Park, the half-mile oval of the Metropolitan Racing Association is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary with the Saturday opening. Long distance racing will feature the weeks sport and racing secretary P. C. Galliger has arranged for an event of a mile and one furlong or more each day. The opening days endurance test will be a mile and three-eighths. Mondays event will be a mile and five-eighths, Tuesdays at one mile and an. eighth, Wednesday, one mile and three-eighths, Thursday and Friday, at one mile and one-eighth and on the final day two miles and one-sixteenth. Dufferin Park has remained one of the outstanding half mile courses on the continent for some years and the management has announced that several changes will be made in the next two years to make the course one of the most up-to-date racing centers in the Dominion. It is expected that new stands and mutuel pavilions will be erected for the convenience of the patrons. Few changes have been made at the old course for the fall season. The approximate odds board which has been in use at Long Branch since its opening has been brought from the Lake Shore course and placed in position for the meeting. The majority of the riders which took part in the Long Branch meeting have remained for the session while there is an abundance of racing material on hand for the seven days. The opening days sport arranged by secretary Galliger is outstanding for a half mile oval. Two handicaps will be down "for decision while an allowance event has been arranged for, juveniles. The first race will go to the post at 1:30 on opening day while Mondays post time will be 1:45 p. m. The "Daily Double" choice will be held on the first and second races. The same officials which served at the Long Branch meeting will be in charge.
