CRUISING, well handled, was snugged in back of the dueling pacemakers, began moving up on the inside and, stealing through a narrow opening on the stretch turn, wore down BLUE GROTTO to draw out through the last sixteenth. BLUE GROTTO had good speed in disputing command with VOTE BOY, disposed of the latter after going a half mile, made a bold attempt to go with the winner when challenged, but was not good enough. VOTE BOY had good speed for the first half mile, tiring through the last sixteenth. FUMBLE raced evenly throughout. METAURUS was outrun throughout. ELDEE, unable to gain a prominent position during the first half mile, moved up on the outside when reaching the stretch and, closing with keen late speed, ran down the leaders to win going away. EQUERRY was rated along back of the pace, responded willingly when placed under punishment, then came with good courage during the last three-sixteenths. SPORT HEEL, quickest to begin, drew clear in the first quarter mile and was rated in front, but faltered during the closing eighth and barely lasted to hold WORTHING safe. The latter was badly outrun early, then came with good courage through the stretch run. HIGH TREASON quit badly. JESSIE V. L. lacked her usual early speed, but moved up gradually to gain a forward position, onlv to quit badly during the final quarter mile. WHINCHAT raced to the front at once, opened up a daylight advantage over her closest attendant during the first half mile and, rated in front, increased her advantage when reaching the stretch and was never seriously threatened, although ridden out smartly to the close. CANTAMORE moved up on the-inside leaving the back stretch and was blocked midway of the turn. MUGAL, under stout restraint while following in nearest pursuit of the pace, was unable to close any ground when called upon. THE GREAT was away well, dropped back steadily and was unable to reach a contending position. MYRNA LEE lost ground while racing on the outside and dropped back in the last three-eighths. WALTER MORTON, prominent all the way and holding a position on the outside while disputing the lead with MIXWELL, gained a slight lead when reaching the stretch and, holding on stubbornly, outlasted MIXWELL at the close. The latter had speed from the start, fought it out in determined fashion the entire last half mile and, saving all possible ground, just failed to hold on long enough. MERRY CAROLINE was well placed all the way, came with good energy during the closing test, but was unable to seriously endanger the first two. CROWNING GLORY raced prominently placed the entire trip, but tired slightly through the last eighth. GAY MAY lost ground on the stretch turn and was going willingly through the last sixteenth. BRIERY, outrun until the last three-eighths, began working his way to the leaders gradually, wore down HASTY STAR inside the Ia sixteenth and drew clear at the line. RITA Z., under slight restraint early, was slow to respond to her riders call, but began giving improved speed on the outside through the stretch and was along in the closing Stride to wear clown GRISETTE. The latter, rated along back of the pace, was hard ridden in an effort to catch the early pacemaker, made a bid to go with the winner when challenged, but was not good enough and just failed to hold RITA Z. HASTY STAR, quickest to begin, opened " up a good lead, only to falter through the last eighth. TRANSDAY was unable to close any ground through the stretch after racing wide. GREY COUNT was permitted to drop out of it during the early running, began to give improved speed when nearing the far turn, was steered wide and, working his way to the leaders gradually, was along in the closing stages to outlast BOW AND ARROW. The latter, prominent from the start, disposed of ORINOCO and RHODIUM, took command entering the stretch and came again nearing the finish after being overtaken. ORINOCO was a prominent factor all the way, tiring slightly through the stretch from his efforts of disputing the lead. RHODIUM displayed good speed -for the first three-quarters, tiring in the last quarter mile. LANDLUBBER lacked speed to enter into contention and was never prominent. SEVENTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. PRINCE DEREK threaded his way into contention in the run through the back stretch, moved up on the outside of CASINGHEAD when reaching the stretch and, taking command, drew clear at the end. CASINGHEAD was rated along back of the pace until leaving the back stretch, moved up steadily to gain the lead and, despite holding on stubbornly, was unable to keep pace with the winner when challenged. BREEZING ALONG trailed his field into the back stretch, began working his way up on the inside during the last half mile, saved considerable ground at the stretch turn and finished determinedly. NEW DEAL was well placed the entire trip and had no excuses. UP AND UP, well placed and slightly restrained, tired through the last five-sixteenths. BONNIE BUZZ faltered after going five-eighths. The latter raced far back until the last three-eighths, came with a belated rush and just missed getting up. ESPINACA, in close quarters and pinched back in the run to the first turn, worked his way up gradually during the last half mile and closed with good energy. LINAS SON outran his field to the first turn, opened up a good lead and, rated in front, tired in the final quarter mile. BOLD GENERAL was unable to reach the leaders. NANCY MAE trailed the greater part of the trip but closed some ground in the stretch.
