LONG RACE AT SPORTSMANS One and Five-Eighths Miles Affair Certain to Be Interesting. Great Lakes Handicap Main Event Scheduled Nine Good Sprinters in the Overnight Entries. CICERO, 111., Oct. 14 The first week of racing at Sportsmans Park will come to a close here tomorrow afternoon with a splendid program of eight races, featured by the Great Lakes Handicap, a ,200 sprint of seven furlongs for three-year-olds and upward. Nine horses, representing seven interests, are entering in the feature and, since they are so well-matched, an interesting, contest should result. Top weight has been assigned to C. E. Davisons Chance Ray, which must shoulder 118 pounds, two more than William Maloneys Her Reigh must pack. In with 108 pounds is J. W. McClatchies Xenomay, which Thursday turned in the fastest five furlongs performance of the meeting thus far, to get home in front. She ran the distance in 1:02 over a track that was no better than good. Among others scheduled to take part in the Great Lakes Handicap are Mrs. A. M. Creechs Gato and Shining Heels, and Corn Husker Stables Our Reigh and Rich Cream. The principal supporting race tomorrow will be the Homewood Handicap, in which nine two-year-olds are to match speed at five furlongs. Some of those entered for this race are Speedy Booger, Layover, Lady Albert G., Bright; Maewhisk and Norman Sloat. SPLENDID WEATHER. Sportsmans Park has been particularly fortunate in having splendid weather all week and if it continues through tomorrow the week-end turnout at this popular half-mile track may tax the capacity of the plant. The racing strip still was not at its best this morning, but indications were that it would be fast for tomorrows sport. Besides the two handicaps, another race which promises to command its share of attention is a claiming affair at a mile and five-eighths, in which the horses will pass the stands no less than four times. Post time for the first race tomorrow will be 1:45 oclock. The field for the Great Lakes Handicap follows: PP. Horse. Wt. Jockey. 1 Rich Cream....... 100 2 -fGato 105 D.
