WHERE -ARE THOSE HITTERS? Jimmy Foxx, first baseman for the Boston Red Sox, won the American League batting championship this season with a .349 average. This mark is the lowest for the leading American League batsmen since Ty Cobb took down such honors in 1908 with a percentage of .324.
