. i j i t RIVER DOWNS TURF NOTES f $ s J. J. Maloney arrived from Fairmount Park with Bay Boy, Sailorman, Clasp and Tibi. Apprentice J. Bowen is with the stable. Herman Becker has a contract on Vernon Buch, seventeen-year-old lad who makes his home in Cincinnati. Buch will don colors in the next several days. Apprentice Paul Driscoll received an injury to his right arm when thrown from Wendy Darling. Wendy Darling was galloping after the seventh race Thursday when she became unruly. Dan Hickey is making the engagements for jockey R. Montgomery. The stewards ordered H. D. King to return the filly Fair to the Darby Dan Stable. H?. D. King entered a claim for the filly, but as he had not run a horse at the meeting the stewards ruled he was unable to claim the filly. John Staunton, who had his first mount of the meeting on Big Business, was born in Dublin, Ireland. Staunton maintains a rid- ing academy at Toledo. H. King purchased the contract of Joe Bomar from George F. Ethington. The lad is a native of East St. Louis, 111., and is nineteen years of age.
