GRAND PAGEANT swerved out at the start, was hard ridden to . take command on the inside, was well rated to the stretch and drew out handily when shaken up. RED MOSS was under mild restraint in the early stages, made his bid after entering the stretch, but was not good enough, though holding QUICK QUICK safe. The latter, off poorly and pinched back, was under restraint in the opening quarter, moved up fast thereafter on the inside and finished Well. DETAINED, on the outside throughout, showed ah even effort. FLORENCE M. raced, well for three-eighths. UPSY quit. BROWN BEN, under mild restraint while" in close attendance of the leaders, slipped through on the inside when the leaders went wide and was under strong urging to the end. HIGH TOP, probably best, was hustled into a clear lead leaving the back stretch, bore out to lose command entering the stretch. and came again in the late stages. HOLTON moved up fast on the outside in the final quarter. NEAT PLAY, hard ridden to enter contention, tired in the drive. MR. AMBASSADOR had no excuses. HORACE B. could not threaten. RANGE DUST, taken under restraint after breaking smartly, raced evenly under urging in the stretch. SMART TRICK, unable to keep pace with the leaders, closed with a rush. STEEL HEELS also made up ground with a belated rush. CALEXICO displayed high speed, but tired badly after losing command. CALUMET RED was on the outside throughout. CHANDERA was outrun.
