CELEBRATE ARMISTICE DAY NEW YORK, N. Y., Nov. 11. New York joined the nation yesterday in commemorating for the first time as a national legal holiday the end of the World War twenty years ago. Patriotic, military and religious organizations participated in ceremonies highlighted by a two-minute period of silence at 11:00 a. m. At that hour the clamor and clatter of every day New York ceased. Subway and elevated trains stopped and traffic halted at all principal street intersections. During the lull, four boy scout buglers sounded roll call and taps in Times Square.
