BIG CROWD AT SHREVEPORT Largest Attendance at Louisiana Course Sees Holiday Program. Tunbridge Races to Victory in Armistice Day Purse, With Prince Pad and Dulcimer in Nearest Pursuit. SHREVEPORT, La., Nov. 11 With the largest crowd ever to see a program at the local course looking on, J. J. Millers Tunbridge raced to a popular Victory in the Armistice Day Purse, a sprint at six and one-half furlongs, which headlined the holiday program here today. The four-year-old daughter of Ever Bubbling was making her first public appearance of the current meeting, but her running qualities were well known to fans for she was installed a 6 to 5 betting choice. Closest to the Miller filly, which ran the distance on a fast track in 1:23, was Prince Pad, while Dulcimer was third and Tartarus fourth. Imperial Jones was the only other contestant. Tunbridge, guided by jockey G. Dye, forged to the front on the outside approaching the third turn and took a good lead, but her advantage was cut to a length at the end by Prince Pad. Imperial Jones was the first pacemaker and then Dulcimer assumed command and while the former gave way completely after his early display of speed, Dulcimer hung on well enough to be only a half length behind the runner-up at the end. Tartarus, which came in for good support, was a disappointment, for he was badly outrun early and only passed the tiring Imperial Jones in the last eighth. The Armistice Day Purse topped a splendid program of eight races which were presented under pleasant weather conditions. Todays large turnout of fans augurs well for a big crowd tomorrow when another splendid card will be offered.
