U. S. NAVY FILMS STOLEN BOSTON, Mass., Nov. 11 Four reels of film containing vital naval secrets on ship construction and design and intricate battleship maneuvers were stolen from a navy officers automobile in the North End, it was revealed today. Police and naval intelligence officers started a city-wide search for the thieves. The films, with a camera and other property, were stolen from the automobile of T. Allen Gunning, first class machinists mate, while he was attending the Marine Corps League anniversary ball at Boston Garden. All of the tin boxes containing the films were marked "Property of the U. S. Navy." They were for exclusive use of naval officers. There were 1,600 feet of film. One of the reels showed maneuvers of battleships in war games, highlighting decoys and smoke screens and presenting aerial views of mass movements of the fleet. The other reels showed secrets of construction and design of some of Uncle Sams latest superdread-naughts.
