FOOTBALL WINNERS TODAY? Notre Dame Favored Over Minnesota in Outstanding Contest of Week-End Other Games. They are offering 4 to 5 on Notre Dame, and 6 to 5 on Minnesota, which will give you some idea of what a close game is expected at South Bend .today when the Irish and Golden Gophers meet in the outstanding football game of the week-end. Notre Dame is undefeated and untied, while Minnesota has lost one game, the now memorable overthrow at the hands of Northwestern after a close and exciting contest. Both Notre Dame and Minnesota have big and powerful teams, with the Irish having the edge on speed, which is expected to prove the deciding factor. A sellout crowd of 56,000 will see the game. At Ann Arbor another fine game is in prospect, the rejuvenated Michigan eleven meeting the big and fast Northwestern team. The odds favor Michigan, which, under its new coach, Fritz Crisler, has been playing great football, with only one defeat, the narrow reverse from Minnesota after outplaying the Gophers the greater part of the contest. Northwestern did well until the Wildcats bumped into Wisconsin last week-end and may still be suffering from the surprise beating at the hands of the Badgers. Few can see how Illinois will be able to hold the big and sturdy Ohio State, the latter being favored to win, but not by any large margin. Unbeaten Dartmouth should trample Cornell, while Yale is favored in its annual classic with Princeton. Harvard meets Virginia, and the odds are in favor of the first-mentioned. Holy Cross holds the edge on Brown, while in the far west Southern California should romp home victorious over Washington, and California over Oregon.
