MAEVIX raced to the front at once, met determined early opposition from HIGH IMAGE and HABIT and, responding gamely to pressure, met a determined bid from FERRYBOAT and won in a drive. FERRYBOAT dropped back steadily during the opening quarter mile, responded willingly when called upon nearing the stretch and finished on his own courage. MORE POISE raced well placed all the way and held on gamely to the close. MY BUDDY closed a good gap. SHANTIME was going willingly at the close. SEMESTER was taken up repeatedly and had scant chance. HABIT had brief early speed. CAVOUR was never prominent. DINNER JACKET was steadied in back of the pace, moved up steadily when called upon, bore in when reaching the stretch and was soon straightened out, but was disqualified for fouling. SOME GOOD, on the inside through the back stretch, was taken to the outside, moved up gradually, was impeded when the winner bore over, recovered gamely and finished with good courage. SPRING MOON displayed good speed in making the. pace, disposed of AUREATE for the lead, but was unable to keep up through the last three-sixteenths. HARPEN BELLE was unable to reach the leaders early, came through on the inside when reaching the stretch and came with good courage. CROWNING GLORY nvas unable to close any ground when placed under urging. COMBAHEE was outrun. AUREATE quit after going a half mile. Scratched 68406 Harvey G. FRIENDLY PAUL was slow to settle into his best stride, worked his way up gradually on the inside leaving the back stretch and, responding gamely to pressure, was along in the closing strides to wear down MACIE MARGARET. The latter outran her field from the start, opened up a good lead and, rated along under slight restraint, responded gamely when challenged, but was not quite good enough. LOSTAGAL was prominently placed all the way and, while unable to reach the leader, fought it out determinedly to the close. LADY HAV was well placed from the start, but was unable to close any ground when called upon. AMPLE was unable to reach the leaders. WAKITA was unruly at the post, was never a factor and seemed to sulk. HIT AND RUN, away slowly, trailed his field entering the back stretch, was taken to the outside when improving his position, came- extremely wide when reaching the stretch and, closing with a rush, -outlasted I slow to begin usual, worked his gradually and came with LOAFER at the end. LOAFER was as way up good courage in the closing test. BONNIE BUZZ was restrained in pursuit of the pace, then came with good energy- in the closing drive. MOTTLED dropped back after rounding the first turn, but gave improved speed through the last quarter mile. SOLTD moved through on the inside and gained a slight lead when, reaching the stretch, only to falter during the last sixteenth. BAIL OUT was unable to reach the leaders. FREE AGAIN quit. HAPPY HELEN was unruly at the post and flattened out badly when called upon through the last three-eighths. The latter, slow to begin, obtained clear sailing on the inside when improving his position and came stoutly-in the stretch. GAY BALKO displayed good speed, made repeated bids to get to the front and tired slightly through the last eighth. DUNADE was outpaced, but came with good courage in the stretch. GHOST QUEEN was unable to reach the leaders early, but was going willingly at the close. NAPPER TANDY was slow to begin and, on the outside throughout, was unable to threaten. U-BOAT raced to the front during the first eighth, opened up a clear lead, was rated along in front, came "wide into the stretch and surrendered command, but came again and outlasted TAKEN at the close. TAKEN was steadied along within striking distance of the pace and came gamely in the closing drive. KNIGHTS HAVEN worked his way up gradually, moved through on the inside to gain a short lead when reaching the stretch, but was unable to maintain his advantage under pressure. MIXWELL disputed command for the first half mile and tired in the stretch. CISNEROS was going fastest after being far back early. SARGAZO was going gamely at the end. CARBECK was unable to keep up. MANHATTAN, restrained until the last half mile, finished with good courage, but was no match for the first two. MORALIST had good speed for the first three-quarters, but dropped back steadily thereafter. BRANDON PRINCE was never a factor and showed a dull effort.
