HORSES REACH NEW ORLEANS More Than 700 Quartered at Fair Grounds Latest Shipment From Louisville Arrives. NEW ORLEANS, La., Nov. 14. With less than two weeks remaining before the opening of the long winter meeting at the Fair Grounds, which is under the direction of the Louisiana Jockey Club, horsemen have been putting their charges to more strenuous work in preparation for the beginning of the local session which gets under way Thanksgiving Day. More works have been reported each day by dockers during the past week and with more than 700 horses already quartered here, Fair Grounds will begin to take on a more racy appearance next week with the arrival of several hundred thoroughbreds scheduled to unload from the East. Racing secretary Richard A. Leigh has his book of conditions already in the hands of horsemen, who are stabled here. Leigh has been complimented on all sides in drawing up his book to fit horses from the higher grade handicappers to the representatives of the lowly selling plater class. Only one shipment was reported as reaching the Fair Grounds Friday and that was a car which came from Louisville, made up of the William Hinphy, Chester OMalley and John Allgeyer stables. The latter establishment in charge of trainer J. L. Winscher made up the bulk of the car. Winscher brought Garden Pool, Red Go, Our Sammy, Laura Kiev, Noma F., and Legal Advice. The latter, a winner at Churchill Downs last week, was acquired by Allgeyer less than a week ago at the Louisville track via the claiming route. OMalley had in the car -the consistent Powers Gouraud and General Markham. While Hinphys colorbearer was Merge, which was turned out by its owner after the local meeting last spring. Merge, turned out at Frankfort, Ky., has been in light training the past month, according to Hinphy, who has been an annual visitor here since his riding days.
