ANDERSON SIGNS WITH IOWA IOWA CITY, Iowa, Nov. 28. Dr. Eddie Anderson, smiling Holy Cross mentor and one of the heroes of the Knute Rockne era at Notre Dame today was named new head football coach at the University of Iowa. Effective immediately, Anderson succeeds coaeh Ira Tubbs who came here two years ago from Miami, and now bows out of the picture after two dismal seasons, during which his teams won two games. The new coach will be the third since Iowa was ousted and then reinstated in the Western Conference in 1929, an action which introduced a period of "simon pure" athletics to attempt to make the Hawkeyes a force in the Big Ten. Burt Ingwersen, who as coach at the time, couldnt do it, neither could Ossie Solem, now at Syracuse. Tubbs came with high hopes but his expectations, never were fulfilled. Now the burden falls oh Anderson.
