"DOC" SUTHERLAND SAYS NO PITTSBURGH,. Pa., Nov. 28. Dr; John B. "Doc" Sutherland, head coach of the Pitt Panthers, today emphatically denied reports he would succeed Bill Spaulding as head mentor at University of California, at Los Angeles. To the rumor that, he would be in California in the near future, Sutherland said: "It is news to me." Meditating the 7 to 0 defeat handed his Pitt eleven by Eric "The Red" Tipton and the Duke Blue Devils, Sutherland declared that there was "nothing to those California rumors."
