! CHARLES TOWN TURF NOTES e $ Jockey Lou Machado reported sick to the clerk of scales and cancelled his mounts for Friday. Dr. C. N. Finch, Louisville, Ky., veterinarian, who has been treating several horses at Middleburg, Va., came over for the days sport. William Merkle, auditor of the Harry M. Stevens Company will depart for Cuba after a short visit to New York. Ring Out, a two-year-old the property of P; A. Shaw, succumed to an attack of pneu-nonia. William Shewbridge, who is interesting horsemen here in the coming meeting in Cuba stated that a carload of horses arrived on the island from here Thursday and that arrangements have been made to ship seven more carloads during the next few days. Several horsemen whose applications for stalls at Gulfstream Park, Fla., were approved, received notification from Jack Letendre that they could ship there immediately. Jim McCunningham has arranged to transfer his string of eight horses to California on Sunday. E. R. Mitchell has decided to forsake winter racing and will quarter six horses in his care at Laurel. Jack Trapnell disposed of Precious King to M. C. Keefe for a private consideration. Keefe plans to race in Cuba. A. B. Parker shipped James Pal and Flying Heart to winter quarters at Devon, Pa. Mrs. H. W. Wageley plans to dispose of Jinneal to William duPont for breeding purposes. She may accept a two-year-old in return. J. L. Garthrights Best Policy and L. K. Crists Truthfully have been turned out on the farm of Jack Trapnell near Charles Town. C. P. Miles, Jr., trainer for W. E. Johnson came on from Devon, Pa., for the final few days of sport. Statistics issued here by Greg Johnson show that 3,910 entries were taken during the fifteen days of racing at Charles Town. 447 horses ran at the meeting. Jockey R. Bernhardt was suspended for the rest of the meeting by starter Wm. Hamilton for disobedience at the post astride Rise and Shine in the fifth race Thursday.
