JUVENILES IN FEATURE i Probable Louisiana Derby Candi- dates Meet Today in Handicap. r Pass Christian Attracts Twelve i Promising Youngsters Over One - Mile and Seventy Yards Route. MW ORLEANS, La., Dec. 16. The route-running qualities of some of the better two-year-olds at the Fair Grounds will be on display here tomorrow in the Pass Christian Handicap, a ,500 race at a mile and seventy yards, which has attracted a smart and of youngsters. The race will hold an especial appeal for fans since it will be the first of the meeting designed to bring together potential candidates for the Louisiana Derby next March, over a distance of ground. The two-year-olds scheduled to clash tomorrow have met several times this meeting at sprint distances and since these encount-1 ers have been among the best staged here, it is reasonable to expect the Pass Christian , to produce another thrilling battle. Much interest in the Pass Christian will attach to Michigan Flyers performance over . a distance greater than six furlongs, to Brights attempt to record his fourth tri- t umph since the local season began and Pa-1 trol Scouts quest of his second handicap ! victory of the meeting and third win. The 1 bulk of the publics support probably will 1 center on this trio and which of them actu-! ally will go to the post favorite will remain ; for the wagering itself to determine. ASSIGNED TOP WEIGHTS. J Michigan Flyer, which races for Joe W. Brown, and Patrol Scout, owned by Mrs. C. C. Winters, will shoulder top-weight, 114 ! pounds each. Bright, the property of "But- Sey" Hernandez, has been assigned 109, one j less than the Old Fox Stables Torch Stick will be asked to shoulder. ! Twelve two-year-olds in all were named for 1 tomorrows handicap, some of the others being the Fairflax Stables Domanio, Mrs. Charles Graysons Linger Awhile, Edward McCuans Lostagal and Mrs. S. G. Baker, Sr.s Helen Mac. With very few exceptions the Pass Christian will bring out every good juvenile quartered in New Orleans, j The Garnet Handicap, at six furlongs, will be the. co-feature tomorrow and sixteen older I sprinters have been entered in this race. ! Besides others, the Garnet will see under ! colors such speed merchants as Warlaine, 1 winner of the Jefferson Park Handicap, 1 White Cockade, Clocks, Spillway, Waxwing, j Zevson, Chance Ray and Taken. Clocks and Spillway are to make their first appearances 1 of the season in this event which is expected j to produce a contest no less interesting than the Pass Christian.
