GREY FLASH was rushed into a short lead immediately following the start, saved ground on the inside and. held. ROCKY MOUNT safe in the drive. The latter, well placed from the start and on the outside, made repeated bids to overtake the winner, but was not good enough. BILLIE DEE OR, probably best; was caught in close quarters leaving the back stretch and again on the turn, then took up, and was in close quarters again through the stretch while racing on the inside. DOWN TIMBER raced evenly and finished well. TRUTHFULLY, fractions at the post, broke from outside the stalls, was forced to race on the outside throughout and tired badly in the final eighth. DUNSANY drove to the front on the inside in the back stretch, raced slightly wide when drawing clear in the front stretch, but continued gamely to hold CANTER BELLE safe. The latter raced well placed in the early running, moved into closer contention on the outside on the turn, swung to the inside through the stretch and was wearing the winner down at the end. NIMULE forced the early pace of the winner while racing on the outside and hung on well, but was not good enough. BLOND REEL raced evenly, but could not improve her position. SCHLEY PRINTZ had no excuses. LEAH FERN quit. CROOKED LANE, rated close to the early pace of GONSBABY, raced to the front with ease entering the back stretch, drew clear thereafter and was never threatened. HAIR TRIGGER, very slow to settle into full stride, gradually bettered his position and finished very fast, but was no match for the winner. CAMPO stumbled following the start, was rushed into contention when recovered, then moved up stoutly on the final turn, but tired. GONSBABY had early speed, but tired. BELIEVER, a stout contender in the early stages, had no chance when the rider lost his stirrup irons. ALLENE fell back steadily. AIR WIN, slow to find his best speed, moved into closer contention in the back stretch, circled the leaders on the final turn and drew away under pressure at the. end. TANGANYIKA, away tardily saved ground on the inside while unable to secure racing room, swung to the outside on the final turn and was wearing the winner down. ODDESA ROMEO could not match the speed of the leaders, gradually bettered his position after a half mile and finished well. PARKING TICKET had keen speed, but tired as if short MY FIRST was used up racing with PARKING TICKET. The others were outrun. N., much the best, was rated in a contending position for a half mile, was repeatedly blocked when attempting to move up on the inside on the far turn, came to the outside entering the stretch, slowly wore down the leader through the stretch and was up in the final stride. EBLIS had good speed to take command at once, was rated in front and, on the inside thereafter, disposed of bids from SHANTIME and TULEYRIES STAR and just failed to last. FRENCH TRAP, racing far below best form, trailed the field in the early stages and passed only tiring horses at the, end. It was a dull performance. SHANTIME tired after showing early speed. PETER H. could never .engage the leaders. HI-SWING was in close quarters. . DESERT SANDS opened up a clear lead immediately after the start, was rated in front thereafter while saving ground, then gave way to the winner, but was, much the best of the others. GOODY GOODY lacked early speed to match the leaders and finished stoutly through the stretch, but was no match for the first two. KEPI had good early speed, but could not threaten. FLEET WIND passed tired horses. LUCULENT was done early. DEODO. well placed early, quit badlv in the final eighth. BALANCED BUDGET was never a factor.
