I TANFORAN TURF NOTES f s s C. C. Jones, prominent rancher in the San Joaquin Valley, and who also manages the San Joaquin County Fair was a visitor at Tanforan. He expects to remain for the rest of the meeting. Trainer C. E. McClain loaded the horses for the two Southern California sportsmen, Gaffers and Sattler for shipment to Santa Anita. The shipment consisted of Marynell, Townsman, Auxiliary, Wedding Call and Bunny Martin. The latter was a recent claim. For rough riding during the running of the second race December 13 jockey A. Fer-min was suspended for the remainder of the meeting. During his suspension he is denied the privileges of the grandstand area. Such was the ruling of the stewards, Fermin rode Oriley. Otto Rasch, Jr., arrived recently from Santa Anita, where he has been conditioning the horses of Mrs. O. C. Rasch, Jr. Rasch will train the plater Celer dOr for Mrs. O. C. Rasch, which she claimed Tuesday. Jockey George Burns, who suffered a slight bruise on his left foot when he was thrown from Hollofol recently, has decided to take a short rest. Burns packed his tack and departed for Santa Anita, where he will gallop horses. Apprentice rider M. Caffarella, has been granted permission by the stewards at Tanforan to ride two horses before they will issue him a license. This is a rule that has been put into effect on California tracks that a new rider must ride two races before he will be approved. Caffarella has been exercising horses for the Copenhaver stable for the past three years and is under contract to Mrs. L. Copenhaver. The horses of Mrs. C. E. Dale are being prepared for shipment to Santa Anita. All Devil, Sleepy Joe, Allanwood, Blaufuss, Roguish, Bristle and Maetown make up the Dale stable. The Cadboro Stable has sold the plater, Denbigh, to W. F. Clark, Jr. Terms of the j sale were private. H. Clarke, trainer for j the Cadboro Stable, will train the horses for the new owner.
