RAIN HELPS TROPICAL TRACK MIAMI, Fla., Dec. 16. Overnight rains provided slow training tracks Thursday for the record thoroughbred colony preparing for the opening of the Florida racing season at Tropical Park December 19. Work tabs were light, but Tropical Park officials welcomed the rain that settled the new top-dressing and placed the final touches on the racing strip for the inaugural card. "We needed this rain to enable our track crews to get the cushion into the best condition for speed and safety," said racing secretary R. S. Shelley. "The horses are far advanced over this time last season and they should be back at serious work tomorrow. Tropicals track dries out rapidly."
