I FAIR GROUNDS TURF NOTES I - - $ . W. E. Jones, trainer for the Liberty Lane Stable, has been engaged to direct the conditioning of Justification and Nogalo for J. A. Kinard, Jr. The horses were formerly trained by F. L. Anderson. A Texas-bred yearling by Chance Meeting Lady Ranger, named Red Sail, was purchased by Miss M. Hodge at the Fair Grounds and was turned over to Dave Sod-ders to prepare for campaigning in 1939. Word was received by Al "Doc" Lavan, from Tom J. Brown that the latter recently underwent additional treatment at Tri-State Hospital in Shreveport and is recovering rapidly with the expectation of being released from the hospital within ten days. The trio of horses P. J. Van shipped to Oriental Park for racing at the island track are Larry M., Irish Play and Phil Boy. J. B. Jenkins and F. C. Staehle traded horses at the Fair Grounds, the former obtaining Mymiss and turning over Manners Queen to Staehle. No cash was involved. Mrs. Laura Morrissey, mother of John Morrissey, the Louisiana Jockey Club starter, arrived from her home in Lexington, Ky., and will visit in New Orleans until after the holidays. A new addition to the Fair Grounds registrations are the two horses that R. A. Simms brought in from Shreveport for Mrs! Mary Pargc. The animals are Jim McCon-nell and Pumice Stone. George Jenkins, Arlington, Texas, owner and breeder, returned to the Lone Star State after a visit of several days, in which ho consummated a deal for the sale of a home bred yearling to Miss M. Hodge. Milton Resseguet, trainer for the Sycamore Stable, reported the sale of the four-year-old Old Rosebush to Anthony Pelleteri for a private consideration. It will be at least two more weeks before apprentice Jimmy Green, who was injured in a fall from Computer a week ago, will be ready for dismissal from Touro Infirmary, to which he has been confined since the accident. E. B. Shipp plans to -leave Thursday for Tnplett, Mo., to spend the Christmas holidays and during his absence Dave Sodders will look after the horses Mrs. E. B. Shipp has quartered at the Fair Grounds. John Donagher departed for his home in Lexington, Ky., and will remain in the Blue Grass section until the opening of the 1939 spring racing season at Keerieland. .
