NEW JERSEY REFEREN- j ; DIM ON BETTING JUNE 20 J TRENTON, N. J., Dec. 20. Legalized, betting on horse laces at state-licensed tracks will be put to a vote of the New Jersey electorate next June 20. The legislature last night approved a bill providing for a special election on the question. The Assembly approved the bill by a vote of 37 to 19 without debate, and the Senate passed it 11 to 10. Senator Lester H. Clee, Essex County Presbyterian minister, and senator Albert E. Burling, Camden," strenuously opposed and attempted a filibuster. Two previous legislatures, while passing resolutions providing for the referendum, had failed to act on a bill creating the machinery for the election.
