BAN ON GERMAN CEMENT OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 20. American Federation of Labor and CIO workers joined today in a pledge not to handle a "hot car" loaded with German cement being offered for sale at less than half the price of the American product. CIO warehousemen, not knowing that the AFL building trades council had boycotted the cement, loaded a box car with 125 barrels of the 2,000 barrels brought two weeks ago by the German mo-torship City of Oakland. Told of the boycott, the CIO men agreed to observe the ban also. AFL union leaders said they would follow the car to its destination and ask workers to refuse to unload it. Identity of the purchaser of the 125-barrel consignment was unknown.
