BOWIE TURF NOTES "I $ Dan Finn oft New York was among the week-end visitors. He joined the Gotham delegation in the clubhouse. Walter Carter will ship the horses that he has here including Churnbrook Farms owned by Wayne Johnson of New York to Jamaica for Metropolitan racing. George Mara arrived from Broadway for a week-end visit. Nat Clymer deserted Times Square for the afternoons racing. Joe Stevens returned from New York, where he spent Friday on business. The first claim of the meeting was filed in the sixth race Saturday when Otto Blank dropped ,500 into the box and led home The Queen from the B. F. Christmas stable. Eddie Kane arrived from New York and will stay for the meeting. He wintered in California. Henry Greene of the Beulah Park Racing Association was among the visitors. Word was received -that C. J. FitzGerald is ill at his Connecticut home following his arrival from California. Mrs. G. H. Emicks six-year-old Ruffy was ordered scratched from the last race Friday by the stewards following an examination by the track veterinarian for lameness. R. "Sonny" Workman announced that he would ride at this meeting starting in next week. Joe Dyer arrived from New Orleans and said he would ride as a free lance. Trainer Hirsch Jacobs departed for New York to inspect the horses that he has at Jamaica. Nicholas S., in the third race Saturday,. was saddled by P. Clausen for Jacobs. Trainer L. Feustel left for New York on a business trip and is due back Monday. J. P. Turner distributed stake blanks for the Delaware Park meeting. William Shewbridge is accepting applications for stable room at Wheeling, W. Va., which opens on Monday, April 27. Jockey J. Marrero arrived from New Orleans and reported to trainer Bryson to whom he is under contract. Jockey J. D. Smith turned his engagement book over to "Whitey" Cunningham for the meeting.
