EARLY EVENING was rushed into command shortly after the break, showed high speed, drew away rounding the stretch turn and finished with speed in reserve. SURE LAD was placed under pressure rounding the far trun and moved up fast, but could not menace the winner. THAT ONE finished fast from a slow beginning through the stretch. FERRYBOAT was close up throughout and had no mishaps in the running. ELDEE began slowly and made up some ground. HIJO MANSO lacked early speed. SEMAPHORE had no mishaps. CELEBRANT could not keep up. SCURRY was away slowly, but moved up fast and finished on her own courage at the end. SMALL WORLD, in nearest pursuit of the pace from the start, had no mishaps in the running. RUST came through on the inside entering the stretch and closed with good courage at the end. BLACK LOOK was outrun early and showed a good effort throughout. HIGHOMAR was outrun all the way. JOHNSTOWN outran his field to the first turn, opened up a safe lead, was rated under steady restraint, shook off opposition rounding the far turn, drew away and was under restraint at the finish. LOVELY NIGHT was outrun early, but improved his position steadily, then responded when urged in the stretch, but could not menace the winner. EIGHT THIRTY, in near pursuit of the early pace, was roused sharply on the far turn, but failed to respond and was not unduly persevered with at the finish. WAR MOON was outrun. STRABO was under urging in the early stages, but failed to gain on the leaders at the finish. LANDLUBBER, in near pursuit of the early pace, faltered badly at the finish.
