NO INCREASE IN BRITISH TAX LONDON, England, April 25. There will be no increase in the British income tax this year, Chancellor of the Exchequer Sir John Simon announced in his budget message to the House of Commons today. In all, Sir John estimated Britain will spend ,610,-000,000 this year, the greatest amount in history, except in the war and post-war years of 1915 to 1920. The total amount needed cannot be met by a .loan, the chancellor said. Announcing there would be no income tax increase, which was generally feared, Sir John said the present 27 1-2 per cent tax last year failed to produce the estimated revenue. He said that the present rates are already within six pence of the highest point reached even during the World War years. "
