Glided Knight One of Oustanding Eligibles for Derby— Kayak II. Tops Gold Cup Nominations. INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 14.— High class fields of the nations outstanding thoroughbreds are assured for both the 5,000 added Hollywood Derby and the 0,000 added Hollywood Gold Cup races to be run in July at the summer race meeting now under way here. The current meeting, which started on Memorial Day and runs to July 29, has seen some exceptionally formful racing to date and the many rich fixtures on the card have been drawing thousands of turf enthusiasts to the beautiful ,800,000 track. The two outstanding features of the forty-four-day meeting, however, are the Derby and Gold Cup. Nominations for both classics released by racing secretary Webb Everett, reveal a total of thirty-six horses named for the Derby to be run July 8, while the Gold Cup scheduled for July 22, has attracted exactly thirty-two famous stars of turfdom. FORMIDABLE ELIGD3LES. Heading the list of nominees for the mile and a quarter Derby grind are Gilded Knight, winner of the Wood Memorial; Roman Hero, California three-year-old king; Viscounty, which ran fourth in this years Kentucky Derby; Belair Studs Challenge and Thellusson; F. A. Carreauds Time Alone, Norman Churchs Sweet Nancy, C. S. Howards The Puma, J. H. Whitneys Counterpoise and Bert Baronis Blue Breeze. For the 0,000 Gold Cup, won last year by the famous Seabiscuit, such present stars as Kayak II., Santa Anita Handicap cham-; pion; Cravat, Main Man, Specify, Whichcee, Don Mike, Ligaroti and Sorteado have been officially listed as candidates for the rich mile and a quarter duel. The Hollywood Park board of directors has set aside Tuesday, June 20, as charity day for the Southern California community chests. Last season the chests realized some 0,000 on a similar day. Racing starts at 2 p. m. daily, with the exception of Sundays and Mondays, which are dark.
