Alfred the Great in Texas SWEETWATER, Texas, May 2.— Another proved stallion has been brought to Texas. George Renfro, whose Hidden Valley Stock Farm is housing some 12 mares that he acquired from George B. McCamey, reports that Alfred the Great 1931, by Teddy — Iberia, by Dark Legend, arrived at his Sweetwater nursery and will stand under his direction for several years. The stallion, long a fixture in Maryland, and later standing for several seasons in California, has sired good winners. His presence in Texas will fortify the Lone Star States thoroughbred industry. McCamey will breed the majority of his mares to this stallion.
