No Competition Best in Rhode Island Secondary Honors J To Tragic Ending Snyders Good Ride Factor In California-Owned Horses Success — Bolingbroke Third PAWTUCKET, R. I., May 2.— B. B. Robinsons No Competition, a victim of bad judgment in his previous start, when his rider took him out to set the pace, contrary to trainer Philpots orders, came from behind to win the eighth running of the Rhode Island Handicap, 0,000 added mile and an eighth event, which is the banner event of the spring meeting at Narragansett Park, with as beautiful a stretch run as has been seen here this year. The six-year-old son of Bull Dog — Aloof responded stoutly to Warren E. Snyders powerful finish down in front of the stand to collar the pace-setting Red Moon at the eighth pole and earn the length and three-quarters margin he had in his favor as he completed his assignment in 1:52. As Red Moon faded back out of the contention, the Coldstream Stables Tragic Ending, who made his move around the turn, was along to take the place award the same distance in advance of Townsend B. Martins Bolingbroke. The latter had a length and a half advantage before the pace-setter. Fourth Choice in Wagering Fourth choice in the wagering, No Com- | petition paid 6.70 for . The Tall Trees Stables Ball Player, who was sent to the post as the favorite on the strength of his victory over No Competition in a mile and 70 yard allowance race here the other day, was a prominent factor from the start, but down through the stretch, was unable to go along with the first flight and finished fifth. Warren E. Synder deserved much of the credit for the California horses victory. That youthful veteran of the saddle had No Competition out of trouble going into the clubhouse turn, took hold of him going down the back stretch, and then called upon him at the three-eighths pole. As a result the Robinson campaigner, who was a stake winner on the Coast, had plenty of run left, quickly overhauled Red Moon when she started to back up heading into the home lane, and accomplished his objective in significant fashion. Red Moon set a good stout pace, clicking off the first quarter in :24, the half in :4Sand the three-quarters in 1:13, and was bn c!:ing up as she reached the mile in l:39!s. Shortly thereafter No Competition took over and was never again headed. The victory, which was the second of the season for No Competition in four starts since arriving here from the Coast, was worth ,060.
