McCarthy Sells More Horses Neil S. McCarthy, Los Angeles attorney, who bred the stake winners Big Ben, Dear Diary, Tin Pan Alley and Morning Breeze at his Hidden Valley Ranch and who is reducing his stock in order to use part of his farm for the production of war crops, has announced that his next move to decrease his thoroughbred stock will be the dispersal of his remaining two-year-olds and his entire crop of yearlings. The yearlings, consisting of eight colts and ten fillies by Sierra Nevada and the successful stallion Tick On, include a half brother of Big Ben, a half sister of Morning Breeze, both by Sierra Nevada, a half brother of the stake winner Outbid and a full sister of Ticky Otis, both by Tick On, and a son of Dear Diary and a daughter of Ticksabrule, both by Sierra Nevada. MsCarthy recently sent the stallion Delphinium and 15 mares to Frank Brophy, of Phoenix, Ariz., and 17 mares and the stallion Moonlight Run to Bernard Gillespie, of Gila Bend, Ariz.
