LADY LYONORS. under light reserve while in nearest chase of the pace established by PERIOVER. took command when the pacemaker began tiring and came out again in the final eighth. MIDDLE AISLE, reserved close up, moved up threateningly on the outside sooon after straightening out in the stretch, but was forced to give ground through the closing sixteenth. QUERCUS closed a good gap after racing far back early. NOBLE BOY made up ground steadily in the last half mile. ERINS SUN closed stoutly on the outside in the last quarter. PERIOVER quit badly after going three-quarters. HI-KID. well placed, was unable to make up any ground when called upon and dropped back through the stretch. MAX FORST tired. RANGE DUST, reserved within striking distance of the leaders for a half mile, wore down BRAS KITTY after passing the eighth post and drew out in the last sixteenth. BRAS KITTY, prominent throughout, was much used disposing of FRONTIER JANE and had little left with which to stave off the challenge of the winner. VINGT ET UN. quickest to begin, was taken back off the early pace and closed with good energy in the drive. FRONTIER JANE, on the outside while disputing the lead, tired in the last three-sixteenths. INDIAN PENNY, hard ridden to keep pace early, was unable to threaten in the stretch. MUTINOUS was going gamely when too late. GAY BALKO. slow to begin, was unable to enter contention. SASSY MATE, steadied along early, disposed of BLUE LEONA when ready, opened up a commanding advantage and won with speed in reserve. DIP, outrun for a half mile, came to the outside for the stretch run and closed stoutly. NOT YET, prominently placed although unable to threaten the winner, held on willingly in the closing test. JOURNEY ON was unable to enter serious contention, although making up some ground. BLUE LEONA showed good speed, hut was much used racing with SASSY MATE and faltered in the last three-sixteenths. PURCELLVILLE outran his field almost from the start, opened up a good lead, was nursed along in front, then lost command briefly in the stretch to BALLOTANT, but, responding gamely to puni !,inent, outlasted BALLOTANT at the end. MAD BACHELOR, reserved early, continued willingly when placed under hard urging, although unable to endanger the first two. LOVELY DAWN was unable to reaeh the leaders. NO COMPETITION, never a great distance back, began moving up gradually through the back stretch, wore down RED MOON approaching the stretch, drew clear and, kept under pressure throueh the last eighth, was never seriously threatened. -TRAGIC ENDING, on the outside through the back stretch, moved up steadily in the last three-eighths and held on stubbornly ia the closing drive. BOLINGBROKE. slow to begin and a trailer early, came to the outside in the stretch and closed with a rush. RED MOON went to the front eoing to the first turn, drew clear and, rated along under slight restraint, was unable to keep pace through the last three-sixteenths. BALL PLAYER, lightly reserved early, was unable to reach the leaders in the closing test. BELL TOWER moved up midway of the back stretch, but was unable to make up any ground thereafter. PAPERBOY back stretch and failed to better his position thereafter was rushed up on the outside nearine the turn from the ROUGH PASS, on the inside rounding the first turn, was forced to go to the outside to obtain racing room and was unable to threaten. OFF GUARD took command in the opening eighth, withstood stout contention from BRONTE 2ND during the first three quarters, increased his lead gradually and roused several times in the stretch, was drawing away again. THE SHAUGRAUN, reserved for the first three-quarters, moved up steadily through the back stretch, made a determined bid to reach the winner, but was ont good enough, althoueh holding on gamel yto the close. JUST TOURIST, permitted to settle into her stride without being hurried early, closed willinely under pressure. OSO made up some ground. DIZZY B. was unable to reach the leaders. REPELLER, reseived close up, held on gamely in the final drive. OLD RIVER closed a eood gap. EPITORY was unable to reach the leaders during the final drive. LITTLE LONG had speed from the start, met stubborn opposition from GENERAL PLANET and, while disposing of him. was unable to keep pace in the last five sixteenths. GENERAL PLANET quit badly.
