Approve Sale of Five Metcalf Thoroughbreds to Wm. Viano PAWTUCKET, R. i.. May 2.— The Rhode Island racing administration has approved the sale of four horses that raced in the silks of Ray Metcalf, suspended trainer, and one horse that raced for Mrs. Metcalf, to William Viano of Lexington, Mass.. motion picture theater owner. The horses will be trained by Herman Walkenhorst. Viano bought Maepeace, Argos. Saving Grace and Copin from Metcalf and Prairie Dog from Mrs. Metcalf. The Narragansett Park stewards and the racing administration have approved Herman Walkenhorst as trainer for seven other horses racing in various interests that were in Metcalfs care. They are E. Sachsenmaiers Soldiers Son and Roman Nancy, A. J. Lynch s Bell Feathers and Lucky Frank, Abbt Bros. Four Eyes and Bettie Nux. and E. Kalishs Last Frontier. Metcalf, who is serving a 40-day suspension, will retain two two-year-olds. Metcalf says that he has decided not to appeal the case In which he was suspended when a saliva test of Last Frontier on April 22 was reported positive for alcohol.
