Michigan Notes DETROIT, Mich., May 21. James Savarda is again in charge of the track police. His assistants during the coming meeting are Macy Slater and Richard Cline. Savarda is a veteran with the Motor City racing organization. r L. Henderson Van Zandt, who will serve as jacing secretary at the impending Thistle Down meeting, will leave for Cleveland the latter part of the week to begin preliminary preparation for the Forest City sport. " Racing secretary Charles F. Henry is studying his stable lists in view to prepar-ing his second book of conditions which will govern the sport from Wednesday, June 3, to Saturday, June 13, inclusive. Edward J. Fry, Michigan racing commissioner, is a daily visitor at the Fair Grounds plant and predicted that the Detroit 1942 meeting will be the best in the tracks history. Apprentice David Gorman reported to Harry C. Richards immediately after he arrived from Maryland. Gorman handled Columbus Day in that thoroughbreds recent stakes victory. Reed Hess, popular front office chief for the local racing association, is of the opinion that box and reserve seat reservations will reach a new high for the Saturday inaugural. James O. Scott, trainer of the Smith G. Baker, Sr., stable, reported that Baker, master of Meadowbrook Farm, near Versailles, Ky will arrive in Detroit for the inaugural-day racing. Homer Pardue checked in with eleven horses and registered his thoroughbred charges with racing secretary Charles Henry. The contingent is headed by Miss Ruth Sidells Displayer. Al Hoerner is again in charge of the Fair Grounds parking lot and announced that the space has been rolled and re-surfaced. L. "Doc" Linabery, who has been in charge of the distribution and editing of the Fair Grounds program, arrived from i Churchill Downs to resume his duties here. i Lohring Sullivan is an arrival and an- nounced that he would remain for the entire Detroit season.
