OOMPH, prominent from the start and on the outside of MERRY RHYME when disputing the pace, gained a short lead in the stretch and held on tenaciously in the final drive. MERRY RHYME, hard ridden to gain a short lead nearing the stretch, fought it out with splendid courage to the close. ILEFETCHIT, steadied along early, held on determinedly when placed to punishment, but was unable to reach the first two. SUNTEGRA failed to enter serious contention. VALDINA ROCKET was unable to engage the leaders. PACIFIC MAID had early speed, but bore out nearing the stretch. BEAU BRUMMEL, s"low to begin, trailed. SASSY MATE displayed speed from the start, withstood repeated bids from LA SCALA through the back stretch, drew clear after rounding the faf turn and dominated the running to the close. BIT OGREEN, steadied along back of the early leaders, moved up after going three-eighths and continued willingly to the close. RED MEADOW closed some ground and outlasted VILLAGE BELLE at the end. VILLAGE BELLE, slow to begin and a trailer early, closed ground through the stretch. LA SCALA, much used in disputing the early pace, dropped back after going three-eighths. MATCHUP closed a good gap after racing far back early- VALDINA BISHOP was unable to engage the leaders. BOREDOM, prominent early, gave way after three-eighths. BECOMLY failed to threaten. CHALARA took command immediately and, revelling in the going, drew out steadily, winning as if outclassing her company. VALDINA MARL, hard ridden throughout, came willingly in the. stretch. SHARP REWARD trailed her company early and moved up fast on the inside, but was unable to make up any ground on the leader and tired slightly nearing the close. ROCKET GAL moved up nearing the far turn, was carried wide and failed to threaten. VICTORY PLAY was hard hustled from the start, bore out when leaving the back stretch and tired. MAEPEACE saved ground on the first turn, moved up gradually while under intermittent punishment and, wearing down BRIGHT TRACE in the stretch, drew out steadily in the last eighth. BRIGHT TRACE outran her field from the start, drew away into a good lead and, rated along under slight reserve, made a game bid to go along with the winner when challenged, but was forced to give ground steadily in the closing stages. GINO BEAU, reserved early, moved up nearing the far turn and, while holding on determinedly, failed o make up any ground. ARESTINO trailed for most of the trip arid was unable to enter contention. MISFLYING, steadied along until the last half mile, moved up steadily on the outside, gained a short lead before reaching the stretch and, fighting it out stubbornly with BAR COPPER all through the last eighth, held the latter safe to the end. BAR COPPER, rated along back of the pace for three-quarters, moved up on the inside, was in close quarters when the winner bore in slightly and fought it out courageously. A claim of foul against MISFLYING was not allowed. VALDINA TOUT raced prominently placed all the way, but failed to keep pace under hard riding in the last three-sixteenths. CONNIE JEAN closed stoutly in the last quarter after being outpaced early. ALAFLAG was unable to reach the leaders. MISFIT showed speed for three-quarters, then tired. ALEGRE tired. ORCADES was rated within, striking distance of Ihe early pace, went to the front when DAISY BOY began tiring and came stoutly through the last quarter to hold PANTHER CREEK safe. The latter began working his way forward on the inside after rounding the far turn and fought it out stubbornly Jo the end. TOP STAFF moved up slightly in the run through the back stretch, but was unable to make up any ground in the closing drive. DAISY BOY showed speed in pacemaking, but tired in the last three-eighths. WIRE ME, in closest chase of the early pace, tired after going about five-eighths. OVANDO, devoid of speed, trailed throughout. TRAPEZE ARTIST moved up gradually on the outside through the back stretch, took command when the pacemaker began tiring, drew out, met a stout bid from MOLASSES BILlT straightening out in the stretch and came out again in the last eighth. MOLASSES BILL, reserved until the last half, moved up determinedly on the outside, loomed up menacingly when reaching the stretch, but was no "match for the winner during the closing eighth. QUAROMA saved ground at the first turn, raced prominently placed, dropped back after leaving the back stretch and came gamely in the stretch. HIGH ARCH was unable to reach the leaders. STEEL KING showed speed in pacemaking, faltering in the last -five-sixtceDths. JUNCO failed to threaten. CHATTER- WRACK tired. Claimed Trapeze Artist by Mrs. E. Haughton for ,250.
