McMillans Chase Record ELMONT, L. I., N. Y., May 23. Freeman McMillan, the lad from Colgate, Okla., who rode Mrs. F. Ambrose Clarks Royal Archer to an easy victory in the Belmont Spring Maiden Steeplechase, now has scored six times with 13 mounts. McMillan, who formerly exercised horses for Alex Gordon and later worked with the trotting horse stable of the late Walter Cox, had never even schooled a steeplechaser before he won with The Beak at Far Hills last fall. Due to his height, McMillan does not have the orthodox seat of a cross-country rider, but his excellent record attests to his ability. Royal Archer was bought by Mrs. Clark from her husbands weeding out sale last summer for ,500, an evident bsjrgain as the Spring Maiden event netted ,200.
