Plan Interesting Racing at Detroit Alger Memorial and Two Supplementary Features On Decoration Day Card DETROIT, Mich., May 23. Racing at the Detroit Fair Grounds this week will be studded with several important features, and high-class sport is in store for patrons of the Motor City course. Racing secretary Charles F. Henry expressed satisfaction with the excellent response received from turfmen for the inaugural day program and predicted that he would have little difficulty filling handicap and allowance events throughout the 73-day meeting. Post time on week days will be 4:45 p. m. eastern war time. Mondays card will be headlined by the Grosse Pointe Farms Handicap, a six-furlong sprint designed exclusively lor three-year-olds and carrying a purse valuation of ,200. Tuesday will witness the deciding of the ,500 Willow Run Purse, a combination race of six furlongs for three-year-olds and upward, and the ,200 Lincoln Park Purse, an allowance test of one mile and a sixteenth for horses of like age. Belle Isle Mid-Week Offering The renewal of the ,000 Belle Isle Handicap, annual six-furlong feature for three-year-olds and upward, will occur on Wednesday. The Belle Isle always has attracted a good field, and this years running promises to be no exception to the rule. The one mile and 70 yards Grosse Pointe Handicap, for horses of like age, competing for a ,500 award, and the ,500 Youngsters Handicap, four and one-half furlongs dash for two-year-olds, will serve as supporting attractions. The ,500 St. Claire Handicap, at one mile and 70 yards, and the ,200 River Rouge Purse of six furlongs, will have their decision Thursday, and Fridays card will be featured with the ,500 Ecorse Purse and the ,200 Melvindale. The former is at a mile and a sixteenth and the latter is at six furlongs. Saturdays Memorial Day program will be headlined by the renewal of the ,000 Col. Alger Memorial Handicap, at one mile and one-sixteenth; the ",000 Decoration Day Handicap, at six furlongs, and the ,500 Juvenile Handicap, at four and one-half furlongs. Horses three years old and upward will contest the Alger and Decoration Day, while two-year-olds "will answer the bugle for the Juvenile.
