CANIGO wore down DABS leaving the back stretch, moved clear after a half mile, continued strongly and drew out nicely, in the stretch drive. DABS, displaced after the opening eighth, rallied to strong urging and held on well. HAPPY SLAVE raced prominently under stout handling, but could not improve his position in the closing test. TOWN CAR lacked early speed and could not eneage the leaders. MAIDEN FERN could not keep up. KILPLACER-was never a threat. COMITO, away well, showed little ability in the footing. HES TOPS raced far back after getting away slowlv. STORMINESS, away in a tangle, was rushed up fast to reach his field, worked his way into contention steadily, then, engaging the leaders in the last eighth, finished determinedly and came out slowly when in front. CHARMFUL, rated in front, stalled off LITTLE MOWLEE and STATE WITNESS, but could not stay with the winner when caught. FAIR HAIRED, away poorly, made up a big cap. MAESAK began tiring after a half mile. LITTLE MOWLEE had no excuses. BUGLE ANN was never a factor. HIGH AND HAPPY ran off three-quarters before the start. PASO GRANDE, taken into a clear lead soon after the start, was rated nicely while showing; good ability in the footing, was shaken up at the stretch turn and was under pressure to the close. GRAND LUCK, ?oing in a forward-position from the start, made weak challenges and could not engage the winner. -TELLEVANE, kept on the outside of the leaders, Was placed to punishment, but could not menace seriously. ANNIKIN began slowly, then finished gamely. SALLIPATICA was never able to gain a contending position. SECOND BEST was outrun. GOANTELL had no speed. NAVY, having much speed, opened up a wide lead, saved ground, yet could not cope with the winner when caught. WHO REIGH, outrun for three-quarters, swung to the outside, but was unable to get to the leaders. PHANTOM PLAYER was prominent for three-quarters, then quit. The latter went closest to the winner from the start, made weak challenges and was under severe pressure to withstand PURPORT. The latter finding racing room on the inside, closed gamely to make up ground in the drive. PETEE LAD was handled strongly and had no excuses. TYR was placed forwardly, lost ground and could not keep up. WILDMUTE was never a contender. MAEWHISK raced in dull fashion. LADYS FAVOR showed nothing.
