Liberal, Reb Ranch Sire, Has Third Crop of Foals He Is One of Sickles Two Sons Standing at Stud in State CALABASSAS, Calif., May 23. A half dozen mares on the Reb Ranch near here have foaled to the nine-year-old Liberal this season and the stallion is to be the "daddy" of six more. The perfect crop is the third of the get of Liberal. The first are now two-year-olds and some of them may be seen at Caliente shortly. Liberal is one of the two sons of Sickle at stud in California the other being Grim Reaper, a seven-year-old now standing at the Horning Ranch hear Concord in Contra Costa county. The first of Grim Reapers get are now yearlings. The representatives of Liberal that have appeared to date consist of one colt and five fillies. The colt is out of the mare Torch Peg andis the third of her produce, she having a three-year-old- by Sweeping Away and a yearling by Liberal. Torch Peg is .by Torchilla, a sire that also stands in California. The fillies are out of the fourteen-year-old Lady Recluse, by Recluse Lady Worthington, by Magazine; the eight-year-old Troubadora, by Strolling Player Much Ado, by Ed Crump; Lazada, a daughter of Sweeping Away; Vada, a -mare by Memory Lane, and Nig, a twenty-three-year-old daughter of Black Toney Costume, by Domino. Four imported mares, Donna Velcara, by Cantilever; Arche, by Lord Archer; La Aurora, by Deiman, and Camillia, by Cam-eronian, have yet to foal; also the homebred mares Mint Time, by Flight of Time, and Sassy Miss, by Broomstick. Arche has produced several good runners, including Arch On now racing at Caliente. F. J. Plumer and Dr. Paoul Esnard, both of whom originally came from New Orleans, are the owners of Reb Ranch. They wish to devote their time io the breeding of horses and sell or lease their stock when it reaches racing age. They have several two-year-olds that have been tried.
