Progress in Arlingtons War Relief Day Cited Lindheimer Indicates Support of Track and Military Authorities CRETE, 111., May 27. Ben F. Lind-. heimer, of the Arlington and Washington Park associations, made his first visit of the season to Lincoln Fields this afternoon and, while here, discussed some of the progress he and John D. Allen and Walter L. Gregory, respective presidents of those tracks, have made toward a definite formation of arrangements under which a War Relief program will be staged at Arlington this summer. Lindheimer, like all others in racing, is enthusiastic over the prospect of raising money for the aid of service men and their families. He has taken a leading part, not only in planning for the holiday benefit at Chicagos mammoth North Side course, but in the work of the National Turf War Assistance movement as well. Lindheimer stated that he has the approval of the boards of the two tracks in staging what is certain to prove one of the major strokes in racings drive for at Continued on Page Five Progressin Arlingtons War Relief Day Cited Lindheimer Indicates Support of Track and Military Authorities Continued from Pape One least ,000,000 for service men by the close of the 1942 season. He further revealed that the day has the full support of military authorities and that state and local officials are ready to lend their cooperation. During a recent visit to New York Lindheimer laid the ground work for a special invitational race engaging a number of the countrys outstanding horses and, if this proposed attraction can be staged, it. may rival any turf presentation of the year. In this connection, Warren Wright offered to bring his handicap champion, Whirl-away, to Arlington Park, provided it would not interfere with the colts scheduled engagements and fit in with trainer Ben Jones program for the star. Others also have made similar gestures, but, whether this event materializes, the program for this occasion will be a sparkling one, Lindheimer said. Meanwhile, preparations for the meeting are going forward with every prospect of success.
