Rodin Triumphs Again In Suffolk Downs Event Whips Loyeday in Beacon Purse Through Bound Impressively BOSTON, Mass., May 27. Charles E. Nelsons Rodin, a winner here over a muddy oval in his last outing, came right back to make it two in a row at the course when he drove to his score over a fast track in the Beacon Purse, one mile allowance event which featured todays card. The gelded son of Chance Shot and Psyche accounted for his third victory of the year to give apprentice Donald Brunelle of Pawtucket his second winner of .the day. Three-quarters of a length back, Mrs. W. R. Flemmings Loveday, the favorite, picked up the place after making a bid from last place at the head of the stretch. The Circle S Stables Wise Father, who furnished what early contention the race developed, was nipped at the wire for the place award and finished a head before A. G. Tarns Bulwark. The latter set all of the pace and Wise Father attempted to make an issue of it by going right along with him. The two fought it out to the head of the lane. There the field jammed together and Rodin came between horses in making his winning move. The Nelson gelding paid in the mutuels and was timed in 1:38. The time equalled that made by Benjamin F. Listers Bell Tower earlier in the meeting. In picking up the place award, Loveday, a daughter of Petee-Wrack and Friars Love, who was a stakes mare around here -two years ago but did not race last year, made her best showing in five starts this year. She made a good run at the leaders from last place until after the eighth pole. From there in she appeared to hang. Just as was expected, Mrs. A. R. Smiths Through Bound, a colt who made his debut in sensational fashion during the closing days of the Florida season, outdistanced his rivals in the Wecfgemere Purse, five-furlong affair for two-year-olds. The bay son of Out Bound and Informal went right to the iront out of the gate and was being eased back by apprentice Don Brunelle the last eighth of a mile as he went the distance in :59, time which was one second off the track record for the distance. A short-priced favorite, Through Bound paid .20 in the mutuels and won with two and one-quarter lengths to spare without ever being challenged. The Valdina Farms Valdma Marl picked ! up second money over Mrs. Helen Gradys Bold Dan. H. A. Catalanos Zacabrand was fourth.
