Speedy Josie Whips Saves Nine In Spicer Purse at Beulah COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 27. Securing an opening on the inside entering the stretch, L. Clous Speedy Josie handily disposed of Saves Nine during the final furlong to capture the Spicer Purse, sixth and best offering at Beulah Park this after-I noon. Saves Nine displaced Be Prepared from the lead at the turn for home, but I she failed to withstand the winners chal-S lenge. Maxiekin barely lasted to save third by a nose from the fast-finishing Pillorlad. Following the running, S. G. Haggerty presented the Spicer trophy to L. Clous. Jockey J. Flinchum brought Bay Flash, the popular favorite, from the rear on the outside through the stretch and just got, up to snatch victory from Phil Chinns Van-time in the last few yards of the initial dash. Anthonys Girl, Golden Rapier, Try Flight and Travel Agent also came from behind in the stretch to earn brackets in their respective races, with Anthonys Girl registering with much to spare.
